Eklund noticed that there were some “technical changes” and clarified an area where he had misspelled last week. Casinos and Racinos pay a $ 100,000 Registration fee and $ 100,000 Royalty every three Years not $ 200,000 everyone like he said last week.
The replacement has to be approved by both the Senate and the House of Representatives, with just over three weeks remaining, though Eklund is confident he has the support of Representative Dave Greenspan and Brigid Kelly, Sponsors the house’s sports betting bill. Despite the short timeframe and changes, the senator told LSR that he was confident that sports betting in Ohio will be legalized this year.
“Whether we work another week or two more, I think we can still do it,” said Eklund. “I really do.”

Penn National supports new replacement bill
The only testimony filed for Tuesday’s hearing was from Penn National. Eric SchippersPenn’s Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations resubmitted a testimony previously filed for the final hearing of the law November 18.
The industry still thought the bill would include two Skins at this point. That was down from three earlier in the fall.
Penn was the only proponent of six out of the Previous Meet to re-testify for the replacement bill. This does not indicate the other five Proponents disagree, but it’s a lot easier for Penn to be a vocal advocate four casinos on the market.
